TechCrunch, which first reported on the new toy series, said it was a chance to take the next step in the evolution of toys, a concept that the company has previously tried to push to toy stores but never quite made it.
“In the future, if you want to do a Star Wars movie, you have to go to a retailer, and if you can’t get a retailer to do it, you’re going to have to buy it on Amazon,” the company said.
“The idea is to have a retail experience where you can choose where you buy a product.
That way you can do your shopping anywhere, anytime.”
The company also said it would offer an exclusive Star Wars figure in the new series, called the Millennium Falcon.
“When you buy an item that is exclusive to this series, you’ll get the best deal.
We are taking the best value available for the Star Wars franchise,” it said.
The new toy line is expected to ship by the end of the year, and is expected, with some details about its design, to arrive in time for Christmas.
