A Juventus star has apologised for “proud” of his “ancestral heritage” after being criticised for saying he is “punching a woman in the face” after a video was posted of him saying he wanted to “piss on her face”.
Juventus star Giorgio Chiellini said he was “not racist” after the video of him shouting the racist slur was shared on social media by one of his former teammates.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’m not a racist, I just want to puke on someone’s face,” he said in the video.
The video, posted on Twitter, shows Chiello talking to a group of players during the team’s 3-2 win over Roma on Sunday.
It shows him saying: “What do you think I am going to do to this woman?
Punch her in the mouth, she doesn’t know where she is.”
Chiellinis response is heard in the background as the player in the shot is seen punching the woman in her mouth.
The Italian team were criticised for their behaviour in the match as they were accused of not paying enough attention to their team.
Chiello responded to the video by saying: “”I am not racist.
I just know I have an ancestral heritage.
I am not going to punch a woman.
I don’t care about that.
That is just a joke.
“He said the racist comment was not his intention.”
No, I am sorry,” Chiella said.”
This is the truth, and I want to apologise to the Roma fans.
It’s not my intention to punch anyone.
“A day after the incident, Chielli was pictured in a black and white shirt with the word “racism” scrawled across it in red.
Chiesa apologised to Roma fans in a statement on Instagram on Sunday night.”
As a Roma fan, I apologise for the racist words used by me.
The team has now apologised to the fans and I will not be playing against Roma next week.
Roma will now focus on their league games,” he wrote.
